Individuals with anorexia try to act like everything is fine, therefore others may not notice the Anorexia symptoms.
Symptoms of Anorexia Nervosa are:
- Excessive exercising
- refusal to maintain the minimal normal body weight by starving themselves.
making delicious foods for friends, family or others but not eating the meals themselves. - obsessive fear of gaining weight.
- even when thin, complaining about being too fat or overweight.
- loss of monthly menstrual periods is typical in women with the disorder
- men with anorexia nervosa often become impotent
- frequent skipping of meals, with excuses for not eating
Anorexia Symptoms shows us the individual usually experiences an intense and overwhelming fear of gaining weight or becoming fat. At least three consecutive menstrual cycles must be missed, if the woman was normally menstruating before the anorexia symptoms.
Especially a woman is considered having Anorexia symptoms if her periods occur only following hormone e.g. estrogen..
